door adjustment
I reworked a 72 4x4 pick up truck a few years ago. I put new floor pans in it and cab supports. I took the doors off so I could work better. I had to move the truck in & out of the garage a couple of times because of other work I had going on at the same time. The cab moved slightly and the doors never fit the same. I’m sure their use to be a special wrench to get to the body side of the hinge bolts, but by now it’s probably not available. I’d rather make one of my own anyway. Does anyone out there have a picture of something like this?
Actually, I think it will take more that just adjusting hinge adjustment. Does anyone have any suggestion? Thanks!! |

The only way I know how to adjust the doors is with the fenders off.

You need a 'S' shaped boxed end wrench and plenty of patience.

I used a wrench that has a socket on one end and an open end on the other. Still scratched it though.

Depending on which way your adjustment needs to go and whether or not the hinges are good, you might try shimming the front cab mounts. If you raise the right side, it will in effect bring the left side up and vice versa.

Sears sells an "obstruction wrench" for $16. It is C shaped and will do the job.
