Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
Chip... FYI, that is a 71 only set up, and I think the turn signal switch may be wrong... in 72 it was located under the dash.

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
I thought it was 71-72, all of the parts included look just like the parts in the directions, except for the switch. I do have the underdash switch but will not be parting with it, saving it for mine.
Jeff

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
Guys you'll find 13 pages of instructions and installation information for the original cruise controls in Section 15 ( Accessories ) of any of the Chevy & GMC Service manuals for 1976-72 Chevy & GMC trucks, they show installation, electrical schematics, detailed drawings, and troubleshooting of entire system.

can any of the parts be purchased aftermarket (aside from the periodic ebay auction?) anything from another gm vehicle that would be similar? it'd be nice to have an original-ish setup instead of some audiovox on the dash with double-sided foam tape, etc.

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
I belive the under dash switch was 72 only. If you look at 1971 Chev Service Manual 10-30 series. Section 15 15-1 Cruise-Master Units. The Engagement Switch. It said it was located at the end of the directional signal lever. The 72 Service Manual does not have a section on Cruise Control. I was told this was because it was the one dealer installed. And that way it had a under dash switch.

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
well, i do have the cruise switch on the end of the turn signal lever (van column) so i guess i would need info for a '71. mine is a '72, and i only have the '72 service manual. would anyone be willing to scan the sheets from the '71 service manual particular to the turn signal switch? it would be appreciated. it looks like maybe the sheets chipflyer has would be the ones?

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
4 hours left and the price is $350. Too bad you don't have a few more in the closet, you might be able to quit your day job.

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
ended at $455. Good sale.
To clarify these GM cruise units is there a specific manufacturer or are the parts stamped GM? I might be documenting mine and want to know differences and similarities with aftermarket ones. Would a factory unit be on glove box list?

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
WOW - what a price.
Cheyenne10 - The set-up I have is not branded or numbered GM. The fender bracket and transducer have no GM logo's or numbers. The transducer says AC. The servo bellows and pully has no numbers. The wire harness has the little tape with a number (just like the lighter or radio harnesses should have when original). The small pedal bracket has no number. The entire set-up is uniquely GM in design and appearance - aftermarket sets(Holley) are very different. I feel very confident in calling mine a "factory installed cruise control" because I removed it from a 68 GMC pickup with the glove box listing. I will probably never find the correct switch/turn signal but will use a van style switch. My set-up is not for sale. Please do not inquire. Thank you - Bob

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
I have a 1970 GMC that has factory cruise control. I will try to look at the parts for GM part numbers etc. It does show up as an option on the glove box sticker as you can see. For 1970 the cruise actuator switch is located on the turn signal mast. My turn signal mast is not in great shape so I have been on the look out for a replacement. I believe this same exact turn signal actuator was used well into the mid and maybe even late 1970's on trucks and Blazers and Suburbans. Not sure exactly how far. I would also like to see the installation instructions because my cruise has not been hooked up since PO installed the 700R4 transmission.

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
jimerie If you have 1970 chev truck chassis service manual 10-30 series. Section 15 Accessories Cruise Master it might be some help to you. The 1972 Cruise Master is a lot different then the 70. The 70 uses a servo mounted on firewall in back of carb.and uses a chain to pull on carb. The 72 servo mounts on inner fender wellon the drivers side and has a cable which head back towards firewall ,bends in a U and runs forward to carb. To pull on linkage. It also uses a different linkage adapter at the carb for the chain then it does for the cable.

Re: Cruise control (EBAY)
Here is a link to a discussion in the FAQ section from awhile back that has a lot of info about the cruise controls that were used on 67-72 trucks.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=136867
