Please Help

Now please dont get mad. I know this is a 67-72 forum, and i have a 68 c-10, but i have a question about my newer truck and there are a lot more people in this forum then the other one. I have a problem. I have a 1989 silverado single cab shortbox. I have a 1989 chevy shortbox. I am getting a vibration in the front end when i hit 45mph. It continues to vibrate even when i speed up , but it gets less noticeable because it vibrates faster. When i let off the gass at say 55 it stops, but when i step on the gas it starts up again. I crawled under the truck and looked at the four wheel drive drive axles, and the passenger side seems to be loose (able to move in and out a little bit and side to side) The driver side doesnt do it near as much. Anyone know what my problem is?

Re: Please Help

Sounds like it might the wheel bearing hub assm. jack it up, with jack stands, grab the wheel and see if it rocks. Try 12 and 6 o'clock position then 3 and 9. See where the play is, go from there

Re: Please Help

Yeah wheelsbearings or CV joints would be where I would look. With it going away when you let off the gas I would be looking at the axels, driveline area.

Re: Please Help

I would check the tires, anytime you have a problem with vibration. A knot on a tire or tread separating will drive you crazy.

Re: Please Help

My gut reaction is that one of the axels is out of balance.

Re: Please Help

My guess is CV or ball joints-whatever this truck has.

it would have both.

I would first suspect the U-joints in the driveshaft myself, then wheel bearings then CV joints.

Hope that it isn't wheel bearings.... trust me... pray it isn't bearings.
