heavy duty coil springs?

Hey guys,

I am considering putting a cummins 4 cylinder diesel in my truck, but the beast weighs 750 pounds without accessories, flywheel, etc, so I need to know what my options are for beefy front coil springs.

How many different kinds of front coil springs were available for the 73-87 trucks? Were they different for 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton? I have heard mention of heavy duty springs for use with a 454 V8, were these a special option?

For that matter, are the front suspension components (A-arms, etc) any different between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton, or is the difference all in the rear?

Re: heavy duty coil springs?

you might as well get the 1 ton coils, and if they sag too much get coil spring spacers.. may not have as much suspension travel.. but it should work fine..

All you'd have to do is get the 1 ton springs, remove the old ones, and put the new ones in. I don't think any other special suspension mods are needed.
