Anyone have factory winch or throtle knob?
I bought my Blazer with a throttle knob on the dash.
The prevous owner indicated it used to have a winch on the front but he removed it when he replaced the front bumper. I thought it was odd that it does not have tow hooks if it used to have a winch. Unless he removed them too. Does anyone have pictures of what a "factory winch" would look like?

Re: Anyone have factory winch or throtle knob?
I had the hand throttle but not a winch! The hand throttle was factory but as far as I know not a winch. The winch would have been dealer installed.
By the way, sweet looking Blazer! And welcome to the board...................

Your interior is pretty smokin'. Look at purty she is!
I know nothing of a factory winch.

Re: Anyone have factory winch or throtle knob?
Thanks for the images Dan72CST! That is some great vintage reading there. I'll take two chrome two hooks for $18. Awe, that would be sweet to get them for that much. I bought a pair of hooks for my '01 Grand Cherokee and they were $95, painted.
Now I see why the previouse ownder removed the hitch. The concept of having a hitch, just because it was an option is cool, but they are pretty butt ugly. I will probably just yank the hand throttle stuff when I replace the dash bezel. The chrome paint is coming off around the gauges. Does anyone make nice chrome paint? I have seen some at Home Depot. I had some experience with it in the past, like 20 years ago when I was 7. I would classify that paint to be silver, not chrome. I was thinking I could "re-chrome" it myself. "Teaser pics"... I have more in "my garage". Just click on my signature. I just don't have too many interior shots. The carpet is a beautiful combo of olive green and sun faded brown. No, I did not cut the hole in the CST side panel. That was the previous owner's handy work. Replacements are not cheap either. Carpet and CST panels are next on the list. Ya know. I take the roof off to make this thing really cool and I opened up a can of worms. Now the interior has to look just as nice as the exterior since everyone can walk right up and say, the carpet is beat.

Re: Anyone have factory winch or throtle knob?
Chrome paint is more like shiny silver. You might be able to get the plastic bezel rechromed and then spray the black yourself, but new dash bezels are only around $35.
Your rig looks like it is in excellent shape. When/if you decide to swap out those side panels, don't trash them. I'm sure you'll find plenty of takers here on the board that would want them even with the speaker holes cut in them. Ya might even be able to off-set the cost of replacements by selling those. Other than the holes, they look like they are in good shape.

Re: Anyone have factory winch or throtle knob?
here is a factory throtle cable on the dash in my 70K5, oh yeah and it also has factory tow hooks. I wonder if mine was factory winch ready if the dealer wanted to install one?

Re: Anyone have factory winch or throtle knob?
LOL, I am glad to know you like it and will be happy to box it up and send it to you. that dashpad will be one of the first things to go once I am driving it. The previous owner really liked to work with wood so he decided to make a dashboard out of oak to replace the craked factory one. It's a good idea if you like the Starcraft conversion van look.

Re: Anyone have factory winch or throtle knob?
Might be able to fit a church pugh in there too! Then the dash would not look so out of place.

Re: Anyone have factory winch or throtle knob?
The PO took the term dashboard literal. It’s a rather nice piece of oak I am sure I can use it on a woodwork project. The crazy thing is that the oak he used to make it was from an old oak tree in his front yard that he cut down. The Blazer has been in my family starting in the early 90's and was my Mom's daily driver until 2000 My Dad always wanted to put the right dash pad in it but my Mom didn’t want him to because it was so unique to her. I personally feel that dash boards and teeth shouldn’t be made out of wood for the same reasons.

Re: Anyone have factory winch or throtle knob?
Chevy duty has throttle knobs, i just bought one. I wouldnt just toss that throttle settup i have seen them sell on ebay for around $100. Its pretty cool feature too if you can get it to work. It is a worm gear so it is suppost to be slow turn mechanism. You are suppost to be able to turn it and the throttle will go up or down depending on which way you turn it, but many times the cable with comes unattached or the worm gear gets worn and will only turn one revolution and slip back to where you started turning it. Mine works when you pull it, but i took it to my hometown lawnmower repair guy to fix the worm gear.
