c30 frame?

i'm kinda planing for a new project. thinking of putting a 72 cab on a 80 1 ton frame. how does the width compare? i know ill have to do some work with cab mounts but wondering if i can just redrill the frame and bolt them on or move them in or out. i have my choice of the 80 cab and chasies or a 69 GMC 1 ton but the 80 has been well maintained and just recently retired by a tire and allignment shop due to nolonger doingon road service for farm and road construction equipment and the gmc has been in the junk yard for years so ide opt for the newer chasies. i think this is the truch that will get the 500 insted of my 4x4

I *think* the cab will sit on there pretty close to right, the mounts for the cab on the frame will need addressed,a nd you may have to add some shims or even small spacers, but the main issue will be with what kind of bed you add.
Again.... if I remember right. Mudder is THE man to talk to on this.

I think the width is about the same because the front suspension from under a 73-87 will bolt under a 67-72 almost directly (you have drill a few holes). The newer chassis will be the way to go for sure. Disc brakes and 14 bolt rearend instead of the good, but hard to get parts for Eaton rearend.

for a bed it will probably start out as a ramp deck car hauler till i find what i need to put a small dump box on it. it now has a 14' van box that don't come with it

That makes it easier,no bodylines to line up.This is what I plan with my Suburban(`91)installing a 67/72 cab`n`clip.Then,a utility bed.They say Suburban frame contours are different than trucks(even in same year),but I measured hub to hub(front to back)and it`s the same on the`Burb as my`72 K/20.I`ll be going for it as soon as I can stop using the`Burb for my main transportation(soon).
