'68 Clutch linkage pic

May I please ask that someone take a pic of their "properly setup and functioning" clutch linkage ... from the engine bay, looking at where the pedal-to-z-bar linkage comes out of the firewall and then of the z-bar itself ... ??? Also, may I please ask for a pic of where the z-bar attaches to the motor-side mount ... ???

If you could post them in a "Reply" to this Post, I'd GREATLY appreciate it ...

Mine is sitting at an unusual angle and I'm concerned about unnecessary torque being put on the entire linkage assembly, leading to failure.

I may build my own linkage with aluminum rods and spherical bearings ... will post pics, when complete.

A little more detail about your truck is needed. 2 or 4wd, V8, V6 or L6?

The pivot point on the block bracket is lower than the one on the frame on my 68, so it has a downward slope to it, but the pivot points are straight across from each other, they set square with the frame front to back.

not to hi-jack the thread, but shifty, what is that orange block with the circle in it sitting just above the exhaust manifold?

that's the ball that the Z-bar connects with. part of the clutch linkage.

Shelby987 thats looks like it is a base for the heat riser.

oh you mean THAT circle, i thiought you were talking about the thing with the ball on the end of it above the manifold pipes.

Shifty, are you running an I-6? If so, wouldn't there be a difference between the blocks and the block-side pivot balls and mounts?

i sold all three of my inline engines to a fellow board member at a stupidly cheap price, so i am no longer running one.

i decided i wanted fuel injection, reliability, gas mileage...and to ditch my 3 speed. so i picked up two extra cylinders, ditched the carb, and doubled the gears in my tranny (LS1 + T56 swap going on)

can't answer your question about the stuff you're asking - but I'm guessing someone in here can. if you don't have luck in here, try posting in the engine/drivetrain forum with a specific title - lots of guys stop in there and know their stuff!

Yes, they do!!! I have the same setup on mine, so I'm thinking that I'm okay for now ... I am concerned about the "bow" of the upper linkage bar from the pedal assembly to the z-bar ... seems like it would have a tendency to bow further over time and eventually not be strong enough to actuate the assembly ... anyone have experience with that?

The only problem I have ever had out of the clutch linkage in these trucks is the nut would work loose on the zbar,and it would slide forward in the frame bracket,and slowly over a couple of days the clutch would go out of adjustment.
