start of the rustoration

Well, now that I've gathered some tools, namely a welder, torch, grinder, and some parts, it's time to get serious about my rustoration. Here are some pics before I tear into it.

Inner and outer rocker and floor needs replaced....

Basically, the bed comes off next week, and I'm going to sandblast the frame, etc from the cab back, then POR-15 everything. Once that's done, I'll make the wood bed floor, and get the bed sealed and primed. After that I'll do the cab patches and strip the interior so that I can paint it. That's the plan for this year, mainly to keep my wife happy that we'll still have some money left for Christmas. Next year will be building the 454 and rebuilding the TH350 and doing the firewall and front frame.

Wish I had the space to do a frame off the right way, but for some reason the wife thinks a garage is where you only park cars overnight, not for a year.

Anyways, I'm sure I'll have questions for everyone, and I'll post pics as I get things done.

Scott

Looks like a great start! Heck, so what's wrong with only half a restored truck? I would like to get that far!

I feel your pain on them rockers! Well, I used to. I took this while I replaced them. And your cab corner looks real nice!

pain is right... rust replacement has got to be the most time consuming, pain-in- the-arse task of all, not something you can rush... everything's easy after that.

When someone starts making stainless steel replacement panels, please let the board know. A local body shop said, 'time...it just takes a lot of time.'

Nothing makes you feel better than hacking out rust. My favorite tool for this;
