Parking brake options

Last part of the chassis rebuild is the parking brake assembly.
I plan to run the parking brake setup from Inline Tube. I'm looking at options for the parking brake handle.

Should I run a custom handle setup from Lokar or something like that or run a stock type 1971-72 foot pedal assembly?

Re: Parking brake options

If you use a lokar where do you plan to mount it?

I figured it mounted under the dash near the LH kickpanel?

I was looking at something like this

or this

Or a nice and clean factory setup...

Life is simple enough, I don't like that handle

Does anyone have a pic of the 67-68 handle with the painted cover in place?

Re: Parking brake options

Not the best pic..... I really like that foot style from Lokar. That looks sweet!!! You might have just added a few more dollars to my "parts needed" column! I don't like the factory hand brake either.

Re: Parking brake options

From the interior of the chopped "Dale Earnhart" memorial pickup.

Upholstered emerg brake handle w/ cover.

Hope the image attachment works. I'm still unfamiliar with that.

BTW: Not my photos, just some I saved of that way-cool truck when it was being sold

Re: Parking brake options

A better-closeup view to see the stitching/detail work on the emerg brake handle. The amount of detail that went into this truck was unbelievable.

I don't know who did the work, or who bought the truck when it sold, but what a cool rig .............

Re: Parking brake options

71-72 foot assembly would be pretty sweet. It looks better than the 67-68 hand one and is easy to use.

Re: Parking brake options

That painted 67 setup with the cover doesn't look too bad. I still like the foot pedal setup, gives a smoother dash look.

For the OEM foot setup, do I just buy a pedal assy from a 71-72 truck complete?

You will need a section of the firewall too. If I remember correctly, the fuse block is in a different location due to the mounting location of the brake and the spot the cable exits. Look at Wes' web site on the Burb buildup. He did that swap on it and looks fairly easy if you can weld.

I'll see if I can find a link and post it.

{Edit} Here it is, page 5 & 6. http://www.classicheartbeat.com/panel_5.htm

Re: Parking brake options

Those are nice, I like them both. But since I'm 6'4" and always knock my ol' knees I would use the foot pedal.

Re: Parking brake options

You could run the lokar handbrake set-up and mount it down by the drivers side seat track ????
