a few qustions i have????? tach? seat?
I have a stock seat in my c-10 and it is worn out and hurts my back really bad. A local guy is selling a load of parts for the year truck i have and has a set of buckets for a suburban. Will they fit if i get the brackets? What will i have to do to make them fit??? Also i have wanted a tach for some time and have posted about it awhile back. I want an on the colum one and was looking at the ones on sumit racing. I found out they sell the same tach at my local auto zone. Does any one have these?? What is involved on the install? What size di you get? and how was it attached?
Thanks for all the help. Ian

Re: a few qustions i have????? tach? seat?
as for tach, I wired mine the other day. It's from 1994 but still works.
ran power to the ignition on wire to the radio, ground to the steering column mount on the firewall, and tach to the TACH port on the HEI. as for the sets, they'll require a little fabrication for a standard cab. Last edited by magnethead; 06-22-2006 at 12:24 PM. |

If the buckets are from a suburban, you need the inner seat perches cut off the floor and welded to yours. The rear brackets would need to be bent some to match the rear of the regular cab floor. Other than putting the hole at the back they should bolt in.

I used a big hose clamp to attach mine to the top of the column. You can ge them at most hardware stores.

Re: a few qustions i have????? tach? seat?
Mounted my tach on a piece of aluminum flat bar stock that is mounted to the dirver's side "A" Pillar. This put the tach just above my dash and easy to read. If I decide to remove the tach, the hole is just filled with the screw that was there originally, that holds the plastic pillar cover in place. The aluminum piece is about an four inches long and cut on an angle where it sits against the windshiled rubber gasket. This gasket keep the piece sitting in place and the screw only holds it up to the metal pillar.

Re: a few qustions i have????? tach? seat?
but if you mount it up, you can't see if your signals are working, or what gear you're in (hence why i put mine next to headlight switch). And for you that say you listen for the flasher relay click, i can't even hear myself think over the engine...my tach says i'm @ 3000 RPM at 60 MPH.

Quote:
good point but i want to mount it so it takes up alittle bit of the fuel gaudge. agian i am looking to have it up so i don't have to look down to see it as i hate to look that far down. This truck also does not see that much road time any more so i really don't mind having the gear selctor out of sight since i am used to it by now and can easly tell by how far my shift knob is down. I like were the tach is in that blue truck may i ask what size face that one is and were you ran the wires? Thanks agian ian

Thats the post i was talking about. The tach is a sunpro II i think but i am not sure what diameter it is and how bigblock mounted it it looks like a hose clamp or somthing. Now that i got the cash and know my local auto zone has that same tach i think i am going to go for it with alittle more help i should be all set for a quick install. Thanks agian for all the help Ian
