I am in the process of trying to get a title for my 67 GMC. I was asked for the VIN and then was told thatthe VIN cannot end in a letter, but my VIN is
C51590D PC10795A Can anyone help me? I took the VIN from the plate inside the driver's door post.

Re: 67 GMC VIN question

Drop the A and I think that is it. Those last 5 numbers are the production numbers for your truck - 10,795th truck made.

Re: 67 GMC VIN question

From what I can tell:

C - 2wd
5 - Could it be an "S"? That would mean a 6cyl gas engine
1 - 1/2 ton
59 - Cab to axle dimension
OD - Wide side
P - Pontiac, MI plant
C - 1967 model year code
10795 - is the sequence number
A - GVW rating for the 1/2 ton (?)

After looking at the title for my 67 GMC, it also ends with an A.

Re: 67 GMC VIN question

If you can get a member of law enforcement to look at it, he/she can certify the VIN and the State could not contest it.

VIN's of the past several years have 17 digits. Our trucks did not.

According to the Assembly Instruction Book, there should be 11 digits/characters. So, go with the first 11 characters, and you should be good to go.

Re: 67 GMC VIN question

The 67 GMC V.I.N. was a beast of it's own. All 15 digits ahould be used. There are other members that can decifer it for you, but I think I am correct. All 14 digits of my 67's VIN are on the title (my production number is only 4 digits).
