Got a new truck today!

Well, new to me. It's a 2001 Silverado 1500HD. 4wd, crew cab, short bed. Has the 6.0l. I have been looking for one of these for awhile now. The kids are growing fast, and the 03 Silverado extended cab was just getting too cramped for them in the back seat. That, and we have been borrowing my Dad's Dodge to go snowmobiling for the past two years becaue I never had a 4x4 that we could get all four of us in. My 03 pulled the sleds and our camper trailer just fine with the 5.3, so the 6.0 should be great. More seat of the pants power is definately noticable.

The 03 was paid for, and I only gave $4000 difference. So I'm grinning big now!!

Nice looking truck, is it as clean inside as it looks from the outside?

Re: Got a new truck today!

Woot! Nice truck! Would love to have something like that myself, but 2wd.
Hope you get many enjoyable years of service out of her.
Is that a Vortec? Did they ever fix the piston slap issue?

Re: Got a new truck today!

Nice truck! I had a 2wd 02 GMC 1500 HD. It was really nice, but I had to get something new before the miles added up and the value dropped....

Re: Got a new truck today!

Well, guess what. Headed back to the dealer tonight after work somy wife could sign her part of the paperwork (I had already signed my part), the thing started showing it ugly side. At around 73-75. it started hopping so bad I thought a tire was coming off! I pulled over to check everything out and things looked OK, so I got back on the interstate. From 72 to 77-78, you can NOT stay in your seat!

Then I noticed the ASB light was on, and the ABS no longer worked.

So, I declined that truck! I did bring another home that I do like. Runs even better than the first, is one year newer, and had less miles. When I got home, I hooked up to my RV trailer and headed for the interstate again. It pulls awesome! Not sure how I missed this one, but then again, I found the other on the stealerships web site and went straight to it when I got there. So, I guess I could say that this is (or will be) my new truck.

Re: Got a new truck today!

Well, the GMC is officially mine now!! I really like this truck! It is my first crew cab since I had a 1977 crew cab 3/4 ton back in the early 90's That thing was a boat compared to this one.

This has all the toys inside. Plus it already has: dual exhaust, chrome step bars, Rhino Liner, B&W hideaway 5th wheel hitch, and tinted front windows. Everything I would have done eventually! All I need to do now is replace the tires and I am set! And I 'll be doing that on Tuesday.

Re: Got a new truck today!

I like the white one even better!

I think my next truck will be white... it hides scratches and dings well, unlike indigo blue metallic which shows EVERYTHING!

Glad you like 'er.

Is the new truck an HD? 5.3 or 6.0L?
