Thru-the-Body Exhaust
I've seen a few trucks where the exhaust has been run through a chrome port/opening in the bed side just forward of the rear wheel openings. Anybody know of a vendor for these?
Thanks

Are you sure that you are not talking about the half moon foot steps that were a dealer option? WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Re: Thru-the-Body Exhaust
I've seen pics of our trucks with holes cut in the lower bedside (forward or the back wheels) for chrome exhaust tips, on lowered trucks. Maybe for better ground clearance. Never saw chrome "port holes" though.

Re: Thru-the-Body Exhaust
I swear to god they did this on Trucks one time. I've seen it done and I want to do the same thing but I can't find any info on it anywhere. You don't just cut a hole and put a tip throug it. It's a chromed piece that is pretty much flush with the side of the bed and attached to it. Its some type of material that doesn't discolor with the heat. Nitro if you find it you gotta hit me up brother!!

Re: Thru-the-Body Exhaust
There is a 71/72 blazer running around town that has that set-up, so you're not crazy on that account. if I get a chance, i'll see if i can find out where he got them.

I saw the one with Stacey. He cut a piece of sheet metal and had it chromed to fit. You could also go with powder coating. The exhaust isn't really that hot back there, so the chrome should last a while. |

Re: Thru-the-Body Exhaust
You might be able to use boat exhaust tips for through hull exhaust.
Here is the first place I found them. http://www.rexmar.com/page230.html I know there are all different styles available.

Re: Thru-the-Body Exhaust
Check out this link
http://www.persh.org/Pickup/body1.htm To get the exhaust pipes through his cool roll pan, Richard Twiddy used the exhaust bezels from an early Mustang. It gives it a nice finished look. These are available for about $15 each from CJ Pony Parts Inc., 7481 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg, PA 17112. 1-800-888-6473 Last edited by dallas71; 08-02-2006 at 03:28 PM. |
