conversion value

I was wondering what type of a value did a 2wd conversion have, is it worth as much as a 4wd? Or in between a 4wd and factory 2wd? What about the way it was converted? Does anyone know someone who sold one?

I looked at buying a few before I found my real one. They are a lot cheaper as far as I could tell. But I wouldn't buy one for the resale value. You will never get what you put into it. Get one that you are happy with ot would make a good project.

On anything custom,the value is found in fit & finish.I think a top notch custom would be more valueable than a lesser original.Once an original is highly modified,original doesn`t matter.I mean,if I took a 2wd 70-72 Blazer and did a bag job w/DOM tube arms & 4-link,what difference would it make how it started out?

You pose the question like a factory 4wd is worth more than a factory 2wd.
I think a factory 2wd is worth the most. A converted 4wd to 2wd is probably worth about the same as a 4wd, maybe a little more.
Of course ultimately this all depends on the buyer.

As with any modification, the quality of the modification and the skill level of modifier. A poor job will drop the value. A top notch modification, like kyle4381 is doing to his Blazer (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?t=207004), will add value. With the shortage of 2wd Blazers, a quality conversion should bring more than a equal level 4wd.

So in summary,

1969 - NO 2WD'S WERE MADE

Based on these #'s I would say that any 4wd made into a custom 2wd
could be worth as much as a factory 2wd, but only if you have a buyer.

Here is my take on it. An original 2wd is always going to be worth more than a 4x4 in the same condition. A 2wd original is going to always be worth more than a 4x4 converted to 2wd in the same condition as the original, as clones are never worth as much. A full custom (original 2wd) can and normaly is worth alot more than a stocker if built right. Even if an original 2wd if so fully built that nothing remains stock it is still worth more than a simularly built 4x4 converted to 2wd since the true 2wd is infact registered as a 2wd and more rare to start with. Now if a 4x4 is converted to 2wd and done well it can be worth alot more than a lesser built original 2wd. Same goes for a 4x4 that is still 4x4 if built right but the problem is their were alot more made so it is not rare as compaired to others. Now with all this being said they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and it will always cost more to build one than just go out and buy one built. Knowing this I still will be building one my self (70 2wd full custom) just because I always want to change what someone else has already done so it ends up costing twice as much!

Well, when I bought my blazer ( a 69 4x4 tub on a 70 2wd frame) I wasn't really thinking about resale value. I wish it had the 2wd vin number on the tub but these are so hard to find I bought it anyway.

I think conversions are fine as long as it isn't mis-represented and I think the value of it would be dependent on condition, and quality of the conversion. Even a converted 2wd is cooler than almost anything else you see on the road...

I don't like my 2wd jimmy any more than I do the blazer, they both make me happy...

I have 2wd that started life as a 4wd. It once was lifted on 44" mud tires. I really don't care one way or the other. I would of chucked the stock suspension components even if it was a factory 2wd as well. I think it would only effect the resale value if you were doing a factory restoration.If it is customized I don't see the conversion making a diffference in value.
