700R4 speedo and tv questions...
Hey all, Just want to say quickly Great site. I refer to this very often. I am building a 72 shorty 2wd, 355ci, 700R, everyday driver. I am not real sure on what tooth gear I am needing to run in order to show right on my speedometer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also on the TV cable, I am running a holly 4160 carb with the correct holly throttle and TV bracket, and geomtry corrector that bolts on to the carb. Setting my tv cable seems to be a little difficult. Any one have the same issue? Thanks again for any insight.

Same problem here setting the t.v. Mine shifts early so I baught a lokar shifter and I just manually shift. Seems that no matter where I set the t.v. it just shifts early... is it too far out... in I dunno.. frustrates me so I gave up and grab the stick... I hope that is not bad. I have the edelbrock Performer with the t.v. shift correction also..

I don't know about manually shifting but there are several members on this BB that recomend having a tranny shop properly set up your TV cable. There are some issues concerning line pressure and tranny life. There should be more info if you do a search.
Anyways here's a ttt

if it ain't dead on, it'll die within 20,000 miles. The line pressure must be dead on to prevent this.

Re: 700R4 speedo and tv questions...
I just worked through this issue on my truck. Even using all the holley parts the tv cable will not be set up correctly. If you set the cable to have proper line pressure off of idle it will limit full throttle. And if you set it for full throttle, the line pressure and shifts are messed up. Even with the tv corrector there is 1/4" more travel in the holley linkage then on the stock quadrajets.
I finally got fed up and bought the TV made easy kit from Bowtie overdrives. Spendy but it works perfectly.
