Inline Fuel Filter
I bought an inline fuel filter from LMC a while back. At the time I didn't think about it but when I was installing it this weekend it hit me that a glass housing for a fuel filter may not be such a good idea. Has anyone had (or heard of) any problems with a filter like this?

Not wanting to start any trouble I have seen many. and all major companies produce them, just like anything else they dont last for ever and need to be secured good. That being said I would still prefer billit.

what about the plastic ones?? i got one under mine hood it seems to be holding up well

I put my metal filter under the cab where the line comes thru the floor to frame. Pre fuel pump and away from engine heat.

I have had mine on for over 6 years and no problems with it. You just have to mount it so it is not hitting anything.

Mounting a filter before the pump is a good way to cause, or agravate vapor lock conditions.
I have been running my glass fuel filter since 96, and have never had a singe problem. Your fuel line isn't secured? |

if you get a polished billet one with fins it will make your truck faster// on the other hand this bike has had a glass filter for over 70years without a problem

The way I put it in the line, I'd have to nail something pretty hard for it to hit anything around it but you never know. I just started thinking about all the time/money I've put into this truck and the last thing I'd want is to have to sit there and watch it go up in flames. So, I already ordered a new one with a metal housing.

Jeg's has several compact inline fuel filters that would work between the pump and carb.

Joe.. .GM had many that CAME... good call. All the old 6.2 liter diesels.
International has many that COME (at least within very recent years, if not to date) with glass... and there's others too, but no names are coming to mind. |

yeah, it is bigger and is less likely to plug to the point of not running. I used to depend on the carb filter in my 250 powered 67 when I was 17. About that many years ago now, anyhow it died on me one day and wouldn't run, pulled the filter out and it started up and drove like a champ to the parts store, where I bought an inline and another carb filter.

but these are like 30+yrs old so who knows what's in them. You can run just the carb filter, but I am usually erring on the side of caution. Besides Holleys, Edelbrocks don't have them, so I'd be sure mine did before I went in-line-less, I guess!!
