Re: TH400 under small hump floor
small block or inline, yes. That's how it woulda come from the factory.
With a big block, it woulda had a high hump. It'll fit if you have good cab mounts, but IMO, NOT a good idea. GM didn't throw the high hump on there just to do it. They did it for a reason. |

Re: TH400 under small hump floor
Go ahead and put the th400 under the low floor...it will clear just fine. If it didn't you can just cut the floor and bolt in a high tunnel, but I am sure it will clear with no problem. I run that setup with old cab mounts and no problem.

Re: TH400 under small hump floor
It'll Fit. I've Done It Without A Problem. Not A Whole Lot Of Clearance But It Never Touched Under Any Circumstances. I Probably Got More Heat From The Tranny Inside The Cab, But I Always Run A Tranny Cooler & A Trans. Temp Gage & It Never Got Hot. J0hn

Re: TH400 under small hump floor
It will fit but as mentioned above the cab will be hotter because there isn't as much air flow, plus, make sure all your mounts are in good shape.

Re: TH400 under small hump floor
going along these lines, I've got a 71 cab that had a 350/automatic stuffed under it, I was wondering if a 4speed on a 350 will work? (obviously cutting for the shifter, and with new body mounts) Or do I have to hack the whole tranny hump out and put a removable one in?

Re: TH400 under small hump floor
NOT ONLY THAT A FACTORY B/B WITH AN AUTO WILL HAVE A TALL HUMP WITHOUT ANY HOLES IN IT. THIS MAKES IT WORTH ABOUT TWICE AS MUCH. I'VE SEEN EM GO FROM $30 TO $50 DEPENDING ON THE CONDITION & HOW BAD SOMEONE WANTS IT. JOHN
