short step sides drive lines

I just got 2 shorty parts trucks and one of them has a one piece driveline and the other a 2 pc driveline. Did GM make these trucks with 1 and 2 pc drivelines? Why?

Yes, I've owned one of each. The one piece was in a 6cyl/3spd equipped truck, the two piece in a 350/350 equipped truck.

Re: short step sides drive lines

i just picked up a shorty parts truck with a 250 th350 and a one piece drive shat.
i however have no idea what is original to the truck.

Re: short step sides drive lines

My 72 SWB 2wd chassis came with a carrier bearing setup, but it was a BBC from the factory.

Plan is to run a BBC with a 350 Auto. I think I'll end up having a one piece made.

I have a V-6/TH400 truck that had very little left on it original... but, I saw no evedence of a carrier bearing ever being installed.
Sleepyboy, something was wrong with your 2 piece. you didn't fix the problem, you just side stepped out of it.
