89-91 suburban conversion - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a '75 chevy truck that I am going to convert to look like the 89-91 suburban front end. I have an '84 suburban right now that I am using as parts. For the time being, I am using the core support and fenders off of the suburban. Yesterday, I started out by hollowing out the factory core support frame bracket holes to fit the core support rubber bushings from the suburban. My problem is that the core support is not in the correct location doing as I have with the mounting bracket from the '75 (note: they are riveted to the chassis) and the rubber mount from the suburban. I only started assembly of the front clip so that I could adapt the hood hinges to the '75 firewall. Has anyone ever attempted this conversion before and if so, could you please help me!! Thanks much!

It has been covered before. I think it was last covered in a post where cliffsta was considering a cab swap, abut 4-6 weeks ago. Try a search, and see what you come up with.

I don't know anything about it...

I meant that it talks about mixing the 70s and 80s clips and cabs, which is what he is doing right now with the '75 truck and '84 Suburban clip. I see now that he is trying to do the opposite of what you were, though...

What happened to that nice, rust free truck you had found for parts, cliffsta? Did the deal fall through?

try using the 75 radiator support bushings. I did a Blazer years ago, but can't remember which bushings we used. Use the cowl on your suburban as a pattern, and make sure you get the reinforcements for the hinges on the cowl as well.

You need the core support and all the pieces that attach to it from an 88-91 to convert the 84 to the style you want. You need to use the 75 body bushings.

and u need to cut the cab for the hood i did the frt clip change on my 78 when i redid the paint i bought all new parts i made the plastic grill look like a billet grill but i saved all my old grill and parts
