Drilling doors for wire loom
Hello,
Wondering if anyone has any advice on drilling holes in the doors for running the wiring harnesses for power windows and locks? I have the kit from A1 electric and plan to start the install shortly (bought the kit years ago but the truck project has been on hold while I was playing with bikes). I have the same "wiring boots" that ChevyDude has installed in his thread on the Brothers one piece glass install (didn't want to hijack his thread with my off topic question) and I notice that he has installed them quite low in the door (1" above the bottom hinge if memory serves). Is that the best placement or would it be easier if I ran them a little higher in the door? (I am not installing 1 piece glass) Thanks all |

I installed mine a little bit higher, but there is another metal wall in the door, if you have an empty door, look below the top hinge and you will see another pocket of sort, so I had to drill another hole from inside the door and put a rubber grommet there as well.

Anybody know where the Factory holes would have been? The CST was
offered w/ door jamb switches for the under dash lights, If I gotta drill I wanna make sure it gets in the right place so it kinda looks like factory.

Thanks all for the info. That last photo from low'n slow, with the door closed and fender off, helped me a lot with the perspective (side to side). Looks like I will go with the hole about the same height (just below the door pin switch) as it will make it a little easier for me to fish the wires into the cab (I drilled a hole up fairly high under the dash - above the e-brake).
