busted ignition
hey guys this is my work truck and I have to get to work with it. Someone tried to take it and busted my ignition out and then couldn't get it to start so now I need to know which wires to cross to hotwire my truck asap. I own the truck and I run my own business. So please help me out.

Re: busted ignition
Run wire from hot post on bat. to bat terminal on HEI-to + post on coil if points. On starter solenoid use old screw driver and touch the large post (from bat.) to the small inside post (S) until engine starts. To cut off just remove wire frim bat. hot post. ( not libel for any knots on head while doing the above)

Re: busted ignition
"What Year truck"
I get so darn frustrated when somebody posts for a fix for a problem and they don't tell you any details. I see in his signiture that he has an 80 super short bed. Maybe that's it. Most ignition switches have a red wire that is hot all the time and another red or pink wire for the ignition feed. These two need to be connected together and then the starter solenoid wire can be touched to these to complete the start then disengaged after the engine is running. I looked in the haynes manual and it shows the normal purple wire for the starter solenoid for auto trannys and a yellow wire for manual trannys, which we also don't know which one he has. If it is a manual there is a clutch interlock which still has to be closed by pushing the clutch in. The key switch was in the steering column and I'm assuming it's broken out and he can get to these wires. HTH.

Re: busted ignition
I saw the signiture, but was wondering if this was posted in the wrong forum, or if he had a 67 - 72 work truck not mentioned.
Just jumping to the HEI will let the engine run, but it won't charge, and you'll have no turn signals or anything else from the Acc circuits. |
