new sheet metal WOW!!
i just recieved all new sheet metal from GMC Paul"s and could not believe the quality. i bought new doors, inner fenders, outer fenders, hood, bumper, and many patch panels. a lot of my parts are repairable, but i dont have much free time. after looking at his prices i felt it was better to go with new. man was i impressed with the quality. very few imperfections. i had everything fixed, primed and blocked in 4 hours, ready for seal and paint. last weekend i spent a whole day just getting the cowl ready for paint. dealer had screwed emblem on side and somebody had chopped hole for an antenna. i told Les to price my order with and with-out the hood i was concerned about having enough $$ with frieght and all. he worked the frieght out to my benifit. if i dropped the hood off this order i would only save $45.00. also the packing was great and product showed up a day early!!! i have had nothing but the best luck dealing with vendors and members of this forumn. thanks pkj

Re: new sheet metal WOW!!
Just curious....did you test fit all the panels and line up everything to your liking before priming?
They may look nice off the truck, but the real test is after they are installed and how well the body lines line up and how consistent the gaps are. Not trying to "cut" on any suppliers, just hard to find really good fitting aftermarket parts.

Aftermarket parts do not fit as well as NOS GM stuff does, test fitting is a absolute must before painting them, especially the INNER fenders

Re: new sheet metal WOW!!
PKJ: Have you fit these pieces onto your truck yet? If you haven't I highly recommend doing so. I too was happy with the quality of the parts I got but they did not fit "out of the box." I had to grind a little here, tap with a hammer there.... and as far as the doors go, it's possible that the window frame will need to be pulled out. I had to move mine out almost 1/2" to get it aligned. I'd hate to see you paint your stuff, put it on the truck and not be happy. If it's already on the truck, then WOHOO! You can click in my signature for pics of my build thread. On page 2 or 3 there should be lots of pictures of my new "tri-plus" sheetmetal installed. Good luck.
