Fleet Bedside Braces

I am putting the bed together on a fleetside with a wooden floor and have everything together but the two braces that go in front of the wheels from the cross sill to the bottom of the bedside on both sides. I can get one side on fairly easily but when I go to the other side and try to assemble it, I put the top bolt in the cross sill then try the one at the bottom of the bedside and it looks like I need to push the bedside outward at least 1" or more to get the holes to line up for the 5/16 bolt, which it very hard to do. Anyone have experience doing this who can advise. Thanks

Either A: the bedside is 1" in, I had one a little bit in but not that bad. or B: Redrill the hole in the cross member for the bolt or C: is the crossmember centered or is a little off center. That would be my suggestions.

Those rods go inside of the cross braces and bolt to the front side of the brace. If you only have holes in the back side, then the cross brace is in backwards. Maybe that is not the problem, but worth checking.
