Need more vacuum

Has anybody installed a vacuum assist that they would recommend and where did you purchase it? I need more vacuum to my brake booster now that I have installed a large cam.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Need more vacuum

another option is hydro boost setup off of a 1 ton or Astro van etc.
I don't know how much a vacuum assist costs but the hydro boost works great. Gives you better stopping power than using the orginal booster

Re: Need more vacuum

you can get a vacuum cannister from summit for $30 bucks. mine holds about 20" of vacuum all the time and they are very easy to install

Re: Need more vacuum

I've been wondering about the vacuum issues I have. I bought a K10 with a 454 that has a cam that the seller said was 1 up from a RV cam. That tells me pretty much nothing but I don't get the feeling that it is a monster cam yet I am not getting enough vacuum to properly run the brakes. On my other vehicle I have a huge cam in a stroked 383 LT1 and I have no vacuum problems. I think my issue is a leak in the intake manifold but haven't had time to research it yet. What I am wondering is, what size cam starts creating these issues? And to the point of this thread, maybe it's not the cam but a vacuum leak or a stuck lifter, etc.. that is creating lack of vacuum.
