How Much Have You Spent
On your project? I was going through some of my paper work today and just for the heck of it started adding up all the receipts. Now I've kept very good records of everything I've bought but I had no idea that I had spent this much. wow so far I have 5500.00 and still don't have it in paint yet, although I do have everything to complete the build except for a few small items.
With the paint I'm going with and the cost for rebuilding the engine I'll go over 10 grand easy. Does anybody else spend like this? or is my wife right in thinking that I gotta addiction thats incurable? By the way if you don't want to reveal your total cost thats ok I was just curious, I know every spare dime I get goes into the truck, and this figure is with me doing all the work myself.

Re: How Much Have You Spent
Did my wife get you to ask this question? Now do you want the bills that she knows about or the other ones as well?

Re: How Much Have You Spent
I have right at $7000.00 in mine. All of the bodywork, paint, and mechanical were done by my father and I. All of the money was in parts ( new and used ).

Re: How Much Have You Spent
Right now I have $2500, it is a rolling frame, got a long way to go! I am expecting to spend around $8,000 total on her, hopefully I can come in under that number but I doubt it.

Re: How Much Have You Spent
Just basically finished this up... I figured that I have 7K in mine as well (including the price of the truck, $1,400). I recently totalled up what I spent this year and it was about $3,500 (I did the motor swap and suspension rebuild stuff a couple years ago. If I wanted to sell it (WHICH I DON'T!) I could probably get 4K out of it.
I'll probably drop another $1,500 next year... vintage air kit and some newer/better interior parts.

Re: How Much Have You Spent
That's what Jena says when I tell her what I spend.... the I fire right back... so how much have you spent on clothes, make-up, and horse lessons this year (she is a VERY good showrider, won a few "blues" this summer).... we added it up last year.... yeah she spent way more than I did on the truck, that was the end of that conversation

Re: How Much Have You Spent
$1600 on the truck
+$1800 in parts =$3400 and it's running! (that's what I tell the wife at least) $1000 more to get legal and nowhere near done. Why is is that the more you take off the more goes to scrap and the more that needs purchased, built, replaced etc...? pics are at www.picasaweb.google.com/hawkdriver |

Re: How Much Have You Spent
Way too much and I'm about to spend a lot more.
I bought the truck for $6000 (Canadian) and put about $1500 to get it in good running order. Over the first winter, I put about $15,000 into a 73-87 front disc and power brake suspension, rear axle flip, a new 3:73 posi, new 5 bolt axles, new radiator, vintage air and a little bling in the engine compartment. Now, I have started a complete teardown to powder coat the frame and start a full build up including front and rear air bags, new header and exhaust and a complete restoration on the body. Including paint, I'm thinking I will be spending another $15-20K. What the heck is wrong with me .
