Re: 383 build up (progress pics)
Wow this is like almost my exact motor, I got the 383 stroker, I got the same Carb. Im not sure what other performance parts you got but you should be able to rack up the number of ponies, My 383 will be pumping 500+ ponies

Re: 383 build up (progress pics)
Not to burst you bubble but you will be hard pressed to get 325 ponies from a mild built 383.

When I read this I was concerned, but then I checked your profile and see that you are 16 years old. You can go ahead and believe in fairy tales for a while yet.

Re: 383 build up (progress pics)
Same thing going on here. Heads are cast iron 74cc open chamber, intake punched out to 2.02 Crane roller cam and rockers 1.6 intake arms, performer air gap, carter AFB 750 MSD ignition, Hedman long tube 1 5/8 headers.
I was told to expect 1 hp per cu in. and 400 ft lbs torque. That info comes from pro builder with dyno in his shop and experience building many a 383. Anyway, plenty of power. |

Re: 383 build up (progress pics)
Just in the process of trying to find what headers im going to get for the new engine. Thinking of getting a pair of flowtecks, anybody have these or have another brand I should think about buying ?

Re: 383 build up (progress pics)
What I got and have and gonna use= Hedman Elite long tube.........3/8 flange heavy wall tube. Send em to flame coat or whatever they are ( I got the video sonmewhaere or other ) and they coat for 250 and that should do it for about the perfect header or close??? I still think about the coating or not, but anyway they are they heaviest duty I found.

Re: 383 build up (progress pics)
Looks good. My motor is a lot like yours too, same pistons its a stroker holley 650 double pumper, Edelbrock Performer. With those heads and it being a stroker you'll easily get 350hp 375 if you set it up right (match cam to motors perf. range, curve distributor to perf. range etc...) The only thing i see a slight problem with is the air gap, there a good intake........on a racecar. An intake like that is made to run from like 4,000 to 10,000, thats where it works. A stroker is overevved at 6500, they like 2700-5400 approximately. Thats why i got the performer its rated at idle-5000. Its your motor, im just giving my $.02

Re: 383 build up (progress pics)
I'm a llittle late quoting on this but I think the performer is not going to be enough intake. It's almost stock. I'd go with the performer RPM at least.
