Re: Anyone Seen This Before
I know 67's do that(headlights come on and front parking lights go off) but I think when 68 came they stayed on but I'm not 100% sure. You are okay if its an older truck. Anyone know for sure??

Re: Anyone Seen This Before
I agree, Years ago I had a 67 Camaro that did that. I thought I had an electrical problem and had it looked at. Thats when I learned the parking lights on 67 models turned off when the headlights were turned on.

Re: Anyone Seen This Before
My $.02 is that it is not the harness but the headlight switch that is the difference. The wires just carry the power, they don't select who gets the power.

Re: Anyone Seen This Before
my headlight switch had two different spots you could put the park lights. one for park lights stay on with headlights and one terminal for go off with headlights on. this was according to my american autowire kit instr. i would not have remembered but i had it wrong the first time.

Re: Anyone Seen This Before
The fix is as simple as moving one wire from its location in the headlight switch plug to another location. I believe it is the only location vacant in the plug. I changed my 67 to the stay on with the headlights location when state inspection guy wouldn't pass because I had "bad wiring" and with the park lights not functioning it wasn't safe. LOL I did it right in front of him and told him 67 models turned off when headlamps came on and he was a *@#$^% idiot. I got truck passed and he looked like a dumb@$$. Then his boss backed me up. Boss is a old chevy truck guy too. Its been about 3 years since I did this but with a test light you can find the wire and then change its location when you find it with the test light.

Re: Anyone Seen This Before
I had this problem when i installed my painless harness on my 68 truck. The parking lights stay on when the headlights are on in the 68, i dont know about the 67. The installation book for the harness talks about this, and there is a wire that you change on the headlight plug that allow the parking lamps to remain on. The wire will be identified (park lamp) and will have the # that painless put on all thier wires. Iam not at the shop to look at book, or i could give you some more detailed info about this. All of this is assuming you bought the harness for the 67-72 truck.
