Replacing hinge pins/bushings?
What is involved in replacing the pins/bushings in the door hinges? I have the new parts, but don't want to wreck anything in the process. Thanks!

Re: Replacing hinge pins/bushings?
Best way on doing this is to remove the doors and then remove the hinges. I sprayed them with WD40 & let set overnight. Then put them in a vise to hold, while taking a center punch and knock out the old pins. You may have to really hit the pins to come out. The old bushings will come out easy after that. Just reassemble. oh, make sure you mark the hinges on the doors and the cab with a marker before removing the doors, so it will be easier to put the doors back on when you finish. This has always worked for me. Others may have a different way.....

Re: Replacing hinge pins/bushings?
On the replacement sets I have gotten the pins are too long, to look the best they can be sawed off with a hacksaw then touchup on bench grinder, or if the old pin are good they can be reused. Most sets have brass bushings to replace the plastic ones.

Re: Replacing hinge pins/bushings?
That's what I figured I'd do, but I thought I'd make sure. The old ones are really wobbly, so I will be replacing the pins and bushings. I don't need to worry about marking where the hinges go, as the truck is getting new doors. Thanks!

Re: Replacing hinge pins/bushings?
I was surprised how good my pins where after taking them apart. I reused the pins in mine.
