New User - '69 C10 Question

Hi all, I just bought my first older truck ('69 Chevy C10) and I am having headlight issues. I only have high beams for some reason. I know I have the right headlights, and all of the wiring looks OK. Is there any common troubleshooting, short of changing the headlights that I should try to remedy the problem? I know the switch on the floor works also, as it does light up the high beam indicator on the dash when switched. Thanks in advance for your help! Bobby

90% of the headlight problems are caused by the dimmer switch. Buy one and try it. Your going to need one sooner or later anyway.

They are down there with all the mud, dirt & grit from 30+ years. My 70 GMC and my 67 Dumper have the same issue. Stomp on it a couple of times and it will work another few miles then blink out again.

My dimmer switch turns my lights off. Freaked me out the first time I got in it at night and had no lights. I had hit the switch by acedent and it scared to hell out of me.

Thats basically what mine does. It will only turn them completely off and turn on the high beams. No low beams (or headlights at all) when I hit the switch.

Welcome to the board. Sounds like it's time for a new dimmer switch.
