Newbe-Christmas present-

Greetings,
Christmas morning,..
My wife told me about this 67 pickup she had spotted, then called on the day before,
so right after opening great gifts, she took me to see it in person.
( If I've learned anything about cars, half the battle is Won if the spouse is in your corner ).
turns out an older friend of the family owned it and needed $$$ real quick, trouble was the truck had been for sale for some time.
Tom gave me a fair price & Wednesday the bucks exchange hands,
Tom said the camper is original to the truck from the dealer, but I'm going to research it anyway.
the 67 has;
New crate 350, 3 years ago,
New paint,
New trim all the way around.
new seat,
$ 4K worth of improvements.
It was Toms baby,..

i'll post info & picture of camper interior more when I own if officially.

( STINGER, my 41 half ton is my current daily driver)
thanks ,
jim aka

Re: Newbe-Christmas present-

Looks like an Alaskan popup camper. Rather popular in your part of the country. They were very well built and ahead of their time. A few other companies make them now. I like yor current daily driver, very nice!

Smile Re: Newbe-Christmas present-

Wow ,
What a Kind & very Generous welcome..
( Alaskan pop up ?, thank you 49 Studebaker) for the info,
I didn't have time to really take any notes.
I have asked the owner to give me the shake down on it next Tues, all the little idocyrites, the good bad & the need to upgrade.
He did suggest a power booster for the front drum brakes, so I may upgrade to discs on the front.( wink-wink , I probably have questions )
Again, Thanks for your kindness.

Re: Newbe-Christmas present-

Congrats and welcome.I'll bet the bed floor in that truck is immaculate if that camper has been on there for it's whole life.

My kids tell me I'm nuts when I tell them that when Mountain Dew first came out, they did the whole hill-billy theme advertising. There was a bluegrass band that practiced in the garage across the street when I was a kid that did all the promotions for MD when it was new and just out. Mid '60's or so.
Ya-Hoo Mountain Dew!

It couldn't be more opposit than how it is marketed today.

Too bad the high cost of gasoline , It would be way cool to do a road trip & meet everyone, but it could be done...
Nice 42,.....MD is still my favorite, nothing beats the zestyness of the first swig,..
