3 of my buddies run them and say for a daily driver, it would be way to annoying. Okay for the occasional weekend run. Niether have had any problems but not sure what brand they're using

I'VE GOT A PETE JACKSON GEAR DRIVE IN MY 71 K5 BLAZER (IT'S THE NOISY MODEL) THAT I DRIVE EVERY DAY (& HAVE FOR THE LAST 7 YEARS). I HAVE A QUIET EXHAUST & NO RADIO. IT WHINES, BUT DOESN'T ANNOY ME AT ALL. IF THERE SET UP TO FACTORY SPEC.s, THEY ARE NOT OVERLY NOISY. THEY MAKE YOUR TIMING SUPER ACCURITE & AFTER 100,000 MILES IT SHOWS NO WEAR AT ALL. THEY'RE NOT FOR EVERYBODY, BUT I LOVE MINE.

OT (slightly)
Besides , could ANYTHING be more annoying than a Dodge diesel truck ,when it comes to noise? I sat in the drive up at the bank today when one of them pulled up next to me! So much for the "please idle engine quietly" sign! It was obnoxious! I have a friend that just bought a Dura-max. Mopar needs to take a lesson here!
OK back to the topic.... At least gear drives sound cool! I had a friend that had one in his 66 shorty 4x4 with a 454 . You could hardly notice it when going down the road , but it DID catch attention when pulling into a gas station , etc. |

I have a Pete Jackson Noisy in my 67. It isn't my daily driver though. Once you get up to cruising speed you can barely hear the gear drive in my truck. I really like it. But when you are cruising around town it sounds like you got a supercharger under there. It kinda makes the rice rockets think twice when they pull up next to you. BUt then when they do smoke you, you really feel dumb because they think they just beat a blown V-8.
