What do you think of this engine?
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...61056_-1_10763
Anyone have any experience/opinions of Blueprint engines? This seems to be a decent motor for the price, and it is aver $1000 cheaper than the GM Performance Parts HT383 and this one also supposedly puts out 65 more peak HP than the GM. All for $3099... I really want to get a F/I motor but it seems like all the TBI 383s are really lacking in power compared to the carbureted. Any thoughts?

Re: What do you think of this engine?
wow, i had my eye on that same engine! It seems like a hellava deal. The only thing that is stoping me, besides not having an extra 3 grand, is I'm afraid to order from Jegs again because the last time I ordered a crate motor from them, it took over six weeks to get here. they said the first one they sent got lost so they had to send me another one, but since you live closer to the Jegs HQ than me, you should be fine.

Re: What do you think of this engine?
I've no experience with "Blueprint Engines", or crate motors in general, but Jeg's is a solid company I've dealt with before, and would again in the future.
The "Base" package seems to be a better deal, as you could likely add the extras in the "Dress" package for less than $1400. Also, 2yr/24k warranty is good for crate motors. Keep in mind the "Blueprint" engine is likely "seasoned" and has a hotter cam, whereas the GMPP HT383 is all new parts, and includes a water pump and plugs. Also, the picture you included is not the $3099 deal. That motor is shown below. I'd suspect the 405 hp/440 ft.lbs is a "gross" rating. Expect at least 20-25 % loss with accesories ("net" rating), and maybe up to 1/3 less thru the entire driveline (auto?) to the pavement, but that will happen regardless with any motor. If shipping doesn't kill the deal, sounds reasonable to me.

Re: What do you think of this engine?
Thanks for the replies. Do you think it is a better value than the HT383 or is it worth the extra money for the GM one because it is 100% new and you can take it to any dealer? Not that I would anyway...
Just seems like a lot of performance for cheap money.
