Tighten Tilt Column?
Ok, I am installing a 72 Blazer Tilt column in my '68 C-10 truck. The tilt part of the column is very tight and works great. The tilt action is very firm, but the steering wheel is not firm and gives me 1/8 inch of movement in any direction.
I have just installed new steering u-joints and everything on this part is firm and in place. So I don't think it is this far down? Is there a part of the column that needs tighten up or something? A bearing replaced or bolts tighten up?? Any help would be appreciated. Adam |

Re: Tighten Tilt Column?
The tilt columns have tapered bearings at the top. I dont remember the size but it takes a deep socket. That will usually get rid of the slack. Might not hurt to see if there is any lube left.
