truck acts erratically in the cold
its getting pretty cold here in Texas (reletively) and my truck is really messing up lately. i will start it and get it running and it will idle alright. then when i get out on to the road, i will come to my first stop sign and the truck will idle at arund 500 but you can barley hear it and then it will try to die. i have to ride the brake to keep it alive. i have to do this for the first 10 min of driving. then i can get on the freeway with the heater going (and its hot) and it will still do this when i come to a stop. this will only go on for the first 10 min. i can also rev it to high hell and it will still do this. what is going on?

Re: truck acts erratically in the cold
Sounds like the choke is adjusted closed too much, or the choke pull off is not working.

Re: truck acts erratically in the cold
I had some really bad fuel affect the float needle once. It acted like your description. It is a Holley 800 DP. I pulled the needle seat and it had little crystals on it. Sprayed some WD-40 on it and put it back in - set the fuel level and haven't had a problem since.

Re: truck acts erratically in the cold
also because you said it was getting cold the mixture could be affected.

Re: truck acts erratically in the cold
just play with the mixture screw until it runs right.
