paint catalyst question ?

Can someone tell me about primer catalyst ? A friend of mine bought a quart of ppg primer and catalyst to do some work on a few parts. The question is do you have to mix and use all of the catalyst at the same time ? I think he said that the catalyst instructions said that it'll last 7-10 days once opened. Does anybody think that if you just get a good seal on the container of the catalyst that it might keep longer ? This stuff is kinda expensive to use just a small amount at a time. Any info would be appreciated.

I cant speak for PPG stuff, but the Dupont stuff I use lasts quite a while if sealed nice and tight and kept in a dark place. The catalyst thats used in the clear I use was opened many months before.... and it turned out perfect.

Seal the can and keep it in the refrigerator next to the beer and it will last years, dp40,k38,k36 etc. can be mixed with catylist and stored at 40 degrees for over a week
