Different Trannies?
Hey guys new to the site. I just got a '64 Chevy C10 truck. Pics to come later.
I got the truck with a bad tranny, bad as in the reverse gear took a hike and the side of the casing went with it. The guy gave me a spare 3 speed tranny. Problem is the rear of the tranny, I think its called the tailshaft, is about 5 inches longer than the old tranny. So my driveshaft won't work. What is the difference here? Different year trucks? What kind of tranny should I be looking for now? Or is there a driveshaft i might be able to find at a junkyard? I have little cash to work with here so I am looking for the cheapest option. Thanks guys. |

Re: Different Trannies?
Yeah stock 3 speed went out.
New one has same bolt up points and gear placement, I added a floor shift kit. But the rear of it is about 5 inches longer for some reason. |

Re: Different Trannies?
Sounds like it might be a car 3 speed. The truck 3 speeds are shorter.
