I asked this question once, when looking for ideas (dream) for how to spend $10K.
For $1K, and you're looking for more performance, as I read your post, I'd consider the following: 1. New cam - consider an Extreme Energy grind from Comp Cams. They're made for trucks. Replace your rockers and lifters, too. 2. New intake - I have an Edlebrock Performer. 3. New carb - I'm running an Edelbrock 1901 (Q-Jet). 4. Headers - if you don't already have them. 5. K&N Filter 6. Wiring harnesses - under the hood....one for the engine and the other for the lighting. If you're doing the work yourself, you'll be pretty close to having spend your stash.

Some pretty nice looking trucks on your website, I recognize the buildings in the background too!! The black truck photos are on Dayton Rd by the Army Surplus store, right?
The orange truck is pretty sweet too!

Thanks ChevLoRay
Those are some good ideas...i was thinking i will try to go with the cam idea...wouldnt mind a bit more aggressive idle, and then the intake too...the only thing is im a little scared to install a cam..it would all be in my driveway...is this doable in the driveway?

you could get new heads. Depending on what kind you get. My first choice would be a cam though.

A driveway can be just like a garage without walls and a roof. Same grease. Same heat and cold weather. Same rain. Just no wat to get away from it. I suspect that many engines have been modified in the driveways of the owners and builders. A garage is nice, but the truck doesn't know it even exists.
Cleanliness is the key, whereever you decide to do the job. Whether it's an intake or a set of lifters, or a camshaft. Just remember to keep everything clean.
