Truck Prices
Was wondering what everyones opinion was on the going price of 67-72 trucks in general. Say in the passed year, up or down? I would say down, a bit.

Re: Truck Prices
They are going down, but only because the popularity is rising, and there coming out of the woodwork. I'd say in 2-3yrs these trucks will start rising, as the supply starts dwindling. The junkyards still have plenty of these trucks, but its starting to slowly thin out. Lets face it, there isn't a popular muslecar that you can restore for such little money, which is attracting alot of folks!!

Re: Truck Prices
Around here you are lucky to find one under 3g's lately. Most scrap yards dont have them any more. And if they do it is picked clean. I still say that these trucks are turning into the tri five chevys. Which is good and bad. Bad the price of hulks and core trucks will go up. But good in that more parts.

Re: Truck Prices
I see no change, other than continuing to rise.I`ve never seen prices flucuate, just vary in different areas and by what a seller thinks he`s got.Selling can slow down, but I don`t see prices do that.Alot depends on how bad you want to sell...or buy.

Re: Truck Prices
From what I have seen the prices are rising, and the quality is going down. Not long ago you could find a solid SWB for "project" quality truck for under 2k. Now all I see is totaly trashed LWB for that price.

Re: Truck Prices
It's hard to say, around here a good straight truck will get some good $, but you just don't see a whole lot for sale, although there are quite a few being driven around still. I would say the law of supply/demand would have to apply for our trucks just like any other product, but I can't really see them deppreciating any more, they should be appreciating, they are definitely a classic vehicle.

Re: Truck Prices
I think the condition sets the price. Most of us here can look and determine a1k from a 3k from a 6k and so forth. From what I've seen is guys wantin' high dollar out of junk. If you want to give 1k and then put a ton of cash in it thats up to you. The days of a good, clean, rustfree trucks are gone. Once in awhile a deal will surface, but not often. I gave 3k for mine in '86, don't think I'd lose a dime on it at todays prices. Seen trucks for 3-4k that has to have 2k in rust repair unless you DIY. Theres alot of factors that sets a price, the main one is commom sense. Have fun and shop wisely!!!

Re: Truck Prices
I bought my 68 longbed a year ago in pretty good shape. It ran and drove, no ps or air. It had drip rail rust, a mismatched front fender, and the bedwood needed redone. The guy that had it priced it at $5500 and couldn't sell it. When I looked at it the first time he dropped the price to $4500. I watched it for 2 months went back and offered him my 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport with a blown motor (worth around $2000 give or take) and $500 cash and he took it. With a little work here and there over the last year I have been offered a little over $3500 for it a couple times. Everyone that sees it at shows or on the street always tells me that I couldn't get the deal I made on it today.
Overall I think the prices are rising but very slowly. In 5-10 years they will be at a premium. I think we are an extremly lucky group to be into these trucks now. Kind of like the guys who got their tri-fives in the 70's and 80's. |

Re: Truck Prices
its all about supply and demand...demand goes up, price goes up...supply goes up, price goes down...and in teh case of these trucks demand=up and supply=not very common isnt good for those of us that love these trucks

Re: Truck Prices
Selling is slowed due to the economy tightening up in general. The dollar is shrinking fast for the common man.

Re: Truck Prices
I dont really know to be honest. I can tell you guys that after buying my truck a few weeks ago i have been seeing more and more of these trucks. I even have a few spotted out that look like good rescues in peoples yards.
I got mine for 2k. But that more then likely because the guy didnt know what he had. I think thats the majority of the problem. These days people have these trucks/cars that they cant afford to restore. So they sit around and waste away or get handed down to someone that doesnt know whats what. I admit i low balled the guy i bought my truck from but hey he should know what he has.

Re: Truck Prices
I find the prices are going up. Every week in the classic car section the prices for any vehicle from the 70's or later is around 3K and that is for a poor condition.
