Not really sure

Can anyone tell me what this fuse looking item is under my hood? If so can it be unhooked and removed?

Re: Not really sure

Isn't that the flux capacitor?

Hmmm, never seen anything like that before. Definitely trace the wires to see what in the world it is.

I've traced it back into the cab but not to the exact location..... I could look tonight because I have all my interior out replacing it so it won't be hard to trace it.

Re: Not really sure

That looks like part of a very early style trailer brake controller. Probably not needed anymore

It did have a trailer brake on it when I got it but I removed it. This runs into the fire wall at a different place but still could have connected in with it. I'll check it out. You guys are the smartest...............Thanks

Re: Not really sure

EZ4U2C,

Definitely part of trailer brake controller. I have one like it in my '86. It is still hooked up to the controller. I think the purpose of this unit is to be an adjustable resistor to control how the trailer brakes apply.

Thanks dh81k30,

I looked last night and you are right it did run over to where the trailer brake used to be. I took the brake controller off after I got the truck. Thanks again.

Whoda thought to put one under the hood for working on your motor?
