I was wondering if you guys can tell me the purpose of running different rim sizes front to back. Why 20's in the front and 18's in the back (or whatever)Is there a performance advance, or is it just the thing to do? oldno7

Normally a bigger wheel well is in the back, so if you have the same size wheel as the front it will make it look like a smaller wheel in the back. Also if it's prostreet or something of that sorts, the bigger tire on the back makes the wheel look smaller, so a bigger wheel will help there yet again.

Wider rears help with oversteer.Narrower on front for ease of steering and ease on parts and clearance for turning.That`s on a 2wd.I assume you`re not talking 4wd.I don`t see it on them.One drawback is no 4-wheel rotation and which spare to carry?Both?

Prostreet said it best, IMO, Bigger rims out back on a slammed ride helps
the look, almost 75% of the show trucks I see are like this for that simple
reason, your wheel well arches are not the same and this helps the look.

It`s like women`s shoes.It`s all about the "style".It used to be the focus was on the rubber size.Now the focus is on the rim.Big/littles has been the "thing" from the first hotrods.The practical reason back then was better traction.

It is about the look for most of use that do the 20/18 mix. I personally think a 20 is just too big for the front of these trucks [I know some will say that there is no such thing as "too big"].

Plus I wanted some rake to the stance when aired out, to keep the hot rod look, and also I want the option of actually driving the truck while nearly aired out, you know around the mall, ha ha, and that would be very hard with 20s and stock inner fenders.

Well I was thinking of a set of 17's for my 67 (torq thrust), but maybe I should go with a 18/16 set up in stead. I like the look of the wider meat in the back. The 18 in the back should help with the different wheel well dimention. oldno7
