What are the best HD 3/4 ton springs? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm re-doing the suspension this week and wanted to beef up the old 1/2 ton springs with some good heavy duty 3/4 ton springs(coil all around). I'll be doing some towing and I could also use a little extra clearance for some larger tires. Where's the best place to get HD 3/4 ton springs?

Having worked in various aspects of the manufacturing industry since I got out of the Army in 1990 it would be my guess that every HD 3/4 ton spring out there is made by the same manufacturer and is marketeted by different retailers under different labels and different pricing depending on what the market will bare.

In other words...Theyr'e all the same.

I'm a novice at this but ,,,,, 3/4 ton is gonna be leaf springs.

Maybe somebody has beefed up the coils to make them 3/4 ton.

I may be totally wrong so if I am please tell me !!!

Yeah they make 3/4 tons with all coils (sorry Woodrow

). You can get springs made to your liking for fair prices by these folks:

Eaton Spring

Give'em a call. They're very helpful.

yeah, 3/4 ton was standard with coil, optional leaf. Except the Longhorn which had leafs period.

I used '70 3/4 ton HD coils on my '72 1/2 ton. It stiffened up the ride just a little, but it will sure carry a load.

We tore a 1970 chev 3/4 ton pickup apart (these are the rear coils as mentioned above) and I cut the frame behind the front suspension and saved the whole thing. I am not really sure if I should tear it apart just to sell just the coils. If anyone else needs any other part from the front end I will tear it apart. So if anyone is interested reply here or send me a PM.

If it is not to late. The cheapest prices I have found in metro Atlanta are at Main Auto Parts (770-434-0909) on South Cobb Drive in Marietta. They have MOOG HD front springs for $74.83 and HD rear springs for $81.70. The Marietta Main Auto Parts was $55 cheaper than the price quoted by the Snellville store. To further compare, Advance Auto Parts has TRW HD springs for $88.99 front and $99.99 rear. If Main will let you, you could pay over the phone with a credit card and since I work in Marietta, I could pick them up for you and bring them to Loganville so you would not have as long to drive to get them.
