J.C.Whitney parts for 67-72

I've never ordered any so I don't know the quality but I notice that J.C.Whitney now carries repair panels, doors, fenders and other parts that I don't remember seeing before.Tailgate: $162.99. Fender:$155.99. The repair panel I need-upper fleetside wheel well:$20.99.
>>Anybody have experience with them?

Probly buy from a vendor instead..

JC Whitney is the Tequila of auto parts stores.

Every time you order from them and get the parts is like every morning after a good Tequila bender and you wonder why in the hell didn't you learn your lesson the previous time.

I'm sure they sell the very same panels as everybody else does. It comes down to price and customer service IMO

Re: J.C.Whitney parts for 67-72

JC does sell a lot of brand name parts. Some are what Summit sells. Back in the day, I would agree about JC being nothing but junk, but they've been trying to change their image. Just my 2c's

Re: J.C.Whitney parts for 67-72

You can probably get it as cheap at a swap meet or a local vendor.Even if it costs a couple dollars more you save shipping.

Re: J.C.Whitney parts for 67-72

I've ordered a lot of stuff from JC. How about a set of kevlar shoes for a 68 Valient? They do carry alot of name brand stuff and they have great air horns, you just have to be picky about what you get from them.

Re: J.C.Whitney parts for 67-72

me too i've ordered many tons of stuff from jcwhitney going back to the earl 60's when they used to have NOS flathead stuff. you really just have to be aware of what you're getting and nowadays thier customer relations are up there with the best of them with a no excuse return policy. they beat summit and speedway motors on many types of things and if you use thier cuopons correctly theres even bigger savings. they're a great source for important but little used tools with far better quality then the harbor frieght stuff people are loading up on other things like shrink tube in bulk and heat shrink epoxy filled electric connectors// but to get the best and the most out of that company it requires sitting down and reading and understanding the book

Re: J.C.Whitney parts for 67-72

I bought a replacment rubber mat for a 70 gmc , alsoa mat & dash pad cover for a 81 toyota 4wd that fit nice. A few years earlier I purchased a carpet set for a roadrunner that did'nt fit at all. I consider them hit or miss. I would probably give them another shot depending on what I needed. good luck

Re: J.C.Whitney parts for 67-72

I've bought a lot from them back in the 70's n 80's. For me it was kinda hit and miss. I agree you do have to read and understand their catalog before buying. Lot's of name brand parts at good prices. They did have a lot of crap also. Lots of gimmicks too. Remember the "fake" cell phone to put in your car? How 'bout the mystery pills to put into your cylinders to stop the oil burning?

Re: J.C.Whitney parts for 67-72

Years ago I bought the headlight wipers that are operated by the wind, tried to get my little brother to hold on to the hood so I could find out what speed they came on , do they still sell those? Also bought a king pin kit for my 1950 Chrysler which were good quality.
Agree got to know what you are looking at, what you want and how to use the coupons.

Re: J.C.Whitney parts for 67-72

I used to buy stuff waaay back when.I came up with a "If it wasn`t available elsewhere or if it had a Brand name" policy.I bought Holley carbs for cheaper, etc. They don`t have any of that old stock stuff anymoreand all the stuff they have is the s.o.s. you can get anywhere.Like all the high volume catalog merchants. They used to be about the only place to buy patch panels before the market grew on restoration.Probably Raybuck pieces,or they had their own made.
