Ok... I've decided to do the brake conv.

can ya'll tell me any special tools I'll need or any "helpful" hints before I start this project? For some reason it NEVER ends up being as straight forward as the vendor suggest.

Thanks for any of your help! BTW, what are your opinions on CPP vs. ECE? Any major difference in the kits besides the price?

What exactly are you doing straight disc conv,or with a drop,or what? It helps to have some details.

I'm planning to do the very same Mod. Searching the site for info on it now and coming up empty. Maybe I'm not asking the right questions.

Mine would be a straight swap. No lowering, just Drum to Disc.

Woudl love to do front and back but I figure I'd need a completely different rear end an axel for that and frankly, have no clue what fits what and where to start.

For the most painless drum to disc conversion, that includes everything you need, and works with all the stock 67-70 ball joints and tierod ends, you can't beat Mcgaughy's kits.
p/n 133163 for 6 lug, or p/n 273995 if you want 5 lug. Either kit you get choice of stock height or drop spindles

Ok, I am digging this path. By the kit and get everything I need. If I go this route, can I do away with the big round booster deal or does this M/C Just sit in front of it?

I just did a drum to disc on my 69, I bought the parts from Kragen Auto parts.
Disc rotors, calipers, brake hoses, upper and lower ball joints, outer tie rod ends and disc bearings for 391.00. The trick is to go online to Kragen.com find the parts you need online, print out the page, and take it to the store and Kragen will give you the online price. I've been buying from them like that for 2 years now.

I did an ECE kit on my Suburban.

The only thing I had to supply was a can of brake fluid and a can of wheel bearing grease. Every single thing was included in the kit. Everything...

There is a problem with McGaughy's kits. I have heard several people complain that their spindles will rub on the inside of your wheels in some cases - I've seen this enough times at the forum and in chat that it's worth mentioning. I have never heard of this happening with ECE's kit, nor CPP's.

It's up to you - I personally don't like the idea of spending $1k on a kit, then having to take a bench grinder to it when it gets here. It should fit, right out of the box.
