If you really mean Rattle can then go gray, as black will show tiger stripes.

Re: Flat black or Primer grey?

IMHO I wouldn't bother.Save the money you'd spend on spray bombs and pinstripes for the good paint job.

Re: Flat black or Primer grey?

If you have someone to spray it you can get John Deere blitz black for $25, a gal . That would be cheaper and better looking than rattle can.IMO

You can also use it thinned and roll it on. I am doing that as soon as the weather holds for more than a day. Do a search for "roller method" and see some incredible paint jobs.

You can do an entire truck with a single gallon and it is a lot less than rattle cans. I spent $50 on rattle cans last time and it looks like hell.

Re: Flat black or Primer grey?

Have you priced decent rattle can primer yet? Not a very good option. You could buy Blitz Black cheapo gun, cheapo compressor take time prepping, spray your ride, sell compressor half price of what you paid and still come out ahead. My .02

If you rattle can it, it will cost you $100, but you can take it to MACO,and they will do it for about $150 if you prep it for them.

Re: Flat black or Primer grey?

Whats wrong with using rattle cans. The PO of my truck painted the truck flat black and I was thinking of touching it up after the rust repair work I did with rattle cans. Is the problem that it looks like crap.

Re: Flat black or Primer grey?

hello. i've got a 68 c10 lwb that is all primer black at the moment. my son who just turned 16 is driving the truck right now and probably will be for the next 2 years. should i be luchy enough that the truck actually survives the next 2 years I will get her painted. anyway, i had it all primered in gray and decided that since he was going to be driving it that it def would look better with flat black since it helps all the chrome trimings stand out more. i will try to get some pics of it tonight after i get home from work and post them.

thanks.

Re: Flat black or Primer grey?

You can rent a spray set-up.Ever spray bomb a large object. It`s rough on the index finger. You`ll be training you left hand to spray.

Just save your pennies until you can get decent paint on your truck- the cans are a waste of energy and money. my .02
