73-87 brake part numbers??

I've got a 69 1/2 ton that I am putting on 73-87 drop spindles on for the 1 1/4" 5x5 rotors. My question is what are the part numbers for the rotor, caliper, and is there a caliper bracket or does the caliper bolt directly onto the spindle? What other hardware would I need to complete this swap?

Should I just go to the parts store to buy this stuff or is there a kit I can buy from a site vendor? If I go into the parts store, do I just ask for a random year in between 73-87?

Everything should be stocking items at the parts store. Ask for something like 75 model year to make sure you get the 1 1/4 inch thick rotors. The thinner rotors started in the 80's, so the 75 application should remove all doubt.

The caliper bolts directly to the spindle.

If you buy what's called a "loaded caliper" from the parts store, it will come with the caliper, caliper bolts, brake pad, and the little clip that goes on the back of the inside brake pad. That's the easiest solution. Otherwise you'll have to buy two caliper bolts and a brake pad clip for each side seperately.

Don't forget, you'll need 2 inner bearings, 2 outer bearings, 2 grease seals, 2 bearing nuts and washers. Also, there is a sheetmetal dust shield that bolts to the spindle with 3 little 5/16 bolts. You'll need them too.

Will the 73-87 spindles fit on the 69 control arms? I thought there was a different sized ball joint on there somewhere so you needed the lower control arm from the later model truck as well.

He'll have to use the 73-87 ball joints. They install directly into the old control arms in place of the originals though.

Another change that took place was to metric hoses/calipers in mid/late 70's. Make sure you get same/same if you change. Maybe somebody knows the year this change took place. I found out the hard way - had metric calipers and bought new hoses for a 73. Returned the calipers to the Pick-a-Part and finally found a recently replaced pair of calipers with "merican threads as my brother calls them".
