66 body on a 68 frame?

Hello everybody it's been quite a while... Anyway- I've got a 68 SWB frame that I will not need for my '68, And I've got a '66 longbed cab and a donor 66 style short step that I'd like to put on the short frame instead of going thru the effort of shortening the long frame. I tried a search, but it was hard to narrow it down... If anybody has any info I'd appreciate it. Hopefully I can just move some body mounts or something.. thanks!

Re: 66 body on a 68 frame?

if u go to google and type in how to shorten a lonbox chevy there should be n article in their somewhere about someone whho shortened one and there is detaile pictures on everything he did along with measurements and how to do it. on top 67-70 trucks had lots of interchangable parts with the early 60s so everything should fit nice and smooth

Re: 66 body on a 68 frame?

One thing to remember is that the frame horns are different between the 2 different eras....causing front bumper mounting issues...

I see... Otherwise theyre the same? And it will fit, just the front bumper will be difficult? or will the frame horns actually not clear the grille area...

you'll have to put spacers in your rear body mounts too, 66's mounts are higher in the back.
