Whaty do you think?
My buddy and I have been looking for a truck to make a car hauler out of.We had talked about 67-72 or a tri-5 truck but he found this 46 the other day and has pretty much got his heart set on it.I think the price is a little high.
I was hopeing some of you out there could let me know what you think. It is a 1946 1 1/2 ton I think, that is mostly all there. He says it runs but needs breaks. It needs the rear window, door handels, front bumper, wood part of the floor, and one headlight beasle. Here are some pictures so you can see what she looks like.I havent seen it in person yet but he said he looked and did not see enough rust to speak of. |

I think it would be a fine car hauler. How much is the guy asking?

Re: Whaty do you think?
1000 is a good price for vintage metal in that condition. I paid 800 a couple years ago for a good cab, doors and fenders from a 1/2-ton. This truck looks a little better than what I bought. I'd love to find a good 41-46 COE cab complete for a hauler project. I envy you guys out west with access to the rust-free stuff like that. Most of the stuff in the East is pretty rough by now.

Re: Whaty do you think?
Thanks you guys.We did get it and I think it was a good deal for how complete it is and it runs.Yes it does run.I'm not going to say it stops.Well I guess it would sooner or later if you ran into a big enough tree or something like that.
All in all I think it was a good deal. Here are some more pics.I was wondering if anyone knows if the box in this first picture the one that says Magic Air is stock or was added later. |

Re: Whaty do you think?
Great find and deal!!The heater is most likely an aftermarket.Heaters were optional and I believe they were GM,or said something about GM on them.I guess by now all the magic has escaped, huh?

Re: Whaty do you think?
The 47 I used to have had a Arvin heater in it. I think most where dealer
add-ons. Everything is the same as a half ton body wise except the front fenders. The big trucks had them trimmed up due to excess weight making them crack down the center. |
