blazer top problem

I recently pulled the top off my 79 jimmy for the first time however previous owner had it off many times since it was new.
my question is about the nuts in cab and rails that the bolts go into.
First, does anyone know how those are attached since they move around side to side.
My problem is one of these nuts has broken loose on top of cab and is rattling around. Is there an easy way to fix or replace these without chopping up the sheet metal.

Re: blazer top problem

Get some good camper shell hold downs and throw the factory bolts away. I have a set of nice alum. ones that I am going to use.

Re: blazer top problem

if you have the top off, you might be able to tack weld it in place. If they are on the front flange, I am pretty sure you will have to cut something to get to the backside. If they are on the rail, they can be accessed by taking the interior panel off.
