To Anyone who is looking to be a first buyer

Owning an old Chevy/Gmc can be a really cool experince. A lot of people buy new trucks every year. They slam it or raise it, add rims and tires, tint the windows and add performance enhancing parts like intake,exhast ect. But nothing beats an old gas guzzling, beefy, no smog required, old school chevy/gmc. They sound cool as hell when you in idle at a stop light next to the newer more quieter trucks. If you take a look they will be most likey checking out your ride and sometimes giving you a thumbs up. I had an experince once when a friend needed a late model 70's Rv that needed to be towed out of a trailer park spot. There was one problem. The rear axle double wheels were locked up. Well, we hooked up a couple of heavy duty towing chains and with my 68' Gmc my back end dropped a little bit then slowly the howl of the locked up Rv tires began to smoke leaving a thick 80 ft skid mark down the street that anyone would be proud of. Ahh.. gotta love these tough trucks.

I've got a "few" older cars and trucks. SOmetimes(usually its women) say why don't you sell all of those and get one nice one. That just isnt me. I like the fact that ppl say. You never know what he will pull up in next. Yep. Public really tend to notice the older 67-72's.

ya i used to be a diehard mopar guy before my '67 chevy... USED to be i get more satisfaction outta driving this truck around and wrenching on it then i could have ever imagined. for anyone debating over whether or not to get one of these things, i say go for it! youre in for nothing but good times and any support you need is right here on this forum

I have been around the block from old to new and back to old. At 35-40,000 plus for a new 4x4, I am staying old and still in style!!!! with plenty o $ to keep going.

These are a list of rides I've had in the last 10 years: 64 Impala, 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 98 S-10, 98 BMW M3, 2001 Land Rover, 2005 Tacoma, 67 CST SWB (too much rust)-all sold! Now I have my 55 Bel air Hard Top, 72 C-10 (project) and my new daily driver 71 GMC SWB 4x4! Anyone can go buy a new car, but it's unlikely I will see any rides like mine around town.

Out of all the different 67/72's years and body styles the 67/68 short fleet with the big back window and lower body side moulding like the one on your trailer, is my favorite. Is that the truck you described as having too much rust and is now sold?

I sold the 67 to a buddy who has the skills & time to make the truck right! I told him that if he ever sells it that I get first dibs!

Pretty hard to go to the dealer and order one of these for less then 1/2 the dealer sticker price. I feel like I should have to dress up to drive one of these newer truck's. NOT me sorry no can do.

Once I move out of rust country,it`s all I want to drive.That`s what my goal has always been,but my wife kept me from it.Now,she`s gone.Just need to get my son through high school now.

I still fall back on my`72s when the newer stuff let`s my down.It`s a shame to have to drop off a new truck for warranty and drive away in a 30+ year old truck that you`ll drive to work to make the money to pay your deductible and loan.

Yes older is always better IMHO. My wife drives a new 07 SS trailblazer and I must say it is one bad arss car with that 395HP vett LS2. She gets alot of attention into but it does not sound like what you would think it should by looking at it. But when we pull out the other SS (67 SS 396 Chevelle) people go nuts. Also when we drive one of my 67-72's or one of my other old rides people always comment and give thumbs up or even just a wave. Personally I like old vehicals but with all modern running gear. This way you get the great looks with modern drivability and even some ok MPG.

Fellas you are absolutely correct. I'd rather save the money first off...next my truck is far from complete and I get thumbs up...my 68 in the condition that it is in is timeless and peoples imaginations run with ideas for it...
RAT ROD in the making.....You cant beat style and class and not to mention that my kids choose the truck each and every time. I figure if I keep it as a daily driver I'm going to have to either drop in a SIX Cylinder or better yet TPI 350 with a 700, A/c, disk brakes, bags, custom stereo, etc.....with plenty of cash to spare.

I agree with you all. There's nothing like an old truck or car. I have always owned and still own newer trucks which are more reliable and better on fuel, but they are for the everyday for me. Comparing a new truck and an old one is like comparing a bad custom Harley with a rice burner. Nothing sounds like em, nothing smells like that rich exhaust smell, and nothing feels like driving an old chevy with a mean engine. My buddy and I were having the conversation about crate engines, and he said he'd put a crate engine in an old car because of the warranty and reliability, but I told him I'd rather chance it with zero warranty and build my own-and have the semi-radical cam idle feel and sound along with the satisfaction that you put that engine together with multiple highperformance parts. Nice cam, carb, loud timinggear drive, headers, can beat that man!!

I have a 2007 Nissan Murano & a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado... over $45,000 invested in both... in 5 years they will be worth $25,000 total between the both.... when these vehicles are paid off... all I'm going to drive is old stuff. For $200-$400 a month, thats alot of money I could put in my pocket or towards maintenance of an old vehicle. And that Old vehicle will increase in value, not decrease like my new vehicles...
My wife travels for her job, so she'll always need something new to travel to other cities and states in (plus I feel she's safer away from home), but,... It's old trucks/cars for me...
