man this is ugly
i dont like how far this booster/master sticks out there... is there any way to relocate it back against the firewall, so it'll clear an auto columb shift arm?
or should i just go with a 7in booster (so it can clear the auto shift arm), or no booster...BTW im running discs all round, so i think i'd like somewhat of a effertless brake pedal feel... here are a few pics of what im talking about, thanks mike nutt for the last pic (for a refrence of a non-booster set up) |

Re: man this is ugly
You could run the setup that goes underneath of the dash and have no booster on the wall at all.

Re: man this is ugly
$0.02 worth
hydro boost then you don't have to have good vacuum (i.e. big cams ) only thing is you got to have right ps pump and two hoses running to booster

Re: man this is ugly
if you are good at fabrication you could cut down the mounting bracket or another one to mount to the firewall.

Re: man this is ugly
93 chev booster and master, little fab work to do it though, iirc, all that has to be done is drill 2 new holes for the bolts, enlarge the firewall hole a little, and the rod a couple of inches. I just cut the 93 rod end off, and welded a portion of a 67-72 style on, that way the length can still be adjusted with the threaded section on the old rod end.

Re: man this is ugly
It's hard to make a GenIII motor look "old fashioned". Without the covers, those motors (in stock form) look very cluttered. Covers clean it up.

Paint the Booster & Master the same color as the firewall, Inner Fenders, Rad Support and it will blend in. The reason that you notice it so much now is because of the gold color - think of it as a gold tooth

Re: man this is ugly
Remove it all and stop Fred`n`Barney style. No,seriously, there`s systems the mount under the floorboard commonly used by rodders.Check Hot Rod suppliers like *****in`Products that advertise in Rod mags and,"poof",make it disappear.

Re: man this is ugly
I like Blue85s idea. just use a large bore MC. preferably a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2" bore. 4 wheel discs take more volume.
so those are the gen III Caddy covers I hear so much about. it looks like a plastic armadillo of sorts. |

Not to change the subject but I haven't seen a Gen III Caddy Engine before. Where does the air intake finally wind up?

Re: man this is ugly
well your gona have to do a web search but i know for a fact that a company is selling an booster that works off electric motor and small hydraulic pump, i seen it in a hot rod book and its intended for bad a$$ motors that wont support the vacume requirements of a booster. it is also small and could probably be moved around to your needs. hate to know the price but check it out it might not be that bad....

Re: man this is ugly
I did the same as "Blu85" and used one from a '96 Tahoe. Little fab work and it mounts tight to the firewall. It's still a big booster but it deletes that stock bracket & linkage mess that really detracts from a shaved firewall.

Re: man this is ugly
ive seen remote brakeboosters , when you use one of those you only have a cylinder like a hydraulic clutchcylinder hanging on youre fire whall and you could mount that booster thing just about anywhere as long as you can get the vacuumhose to go there too (or mount a vacuumpump next to it )behind the cab under the bedfloor for instance http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/remote_booster.html there you go

Re: man this is ugly
i wanna keep the master under the hood..so i like the wilwood idea, and also the 88-99 master booster combo, but the problem i see with that is the master isnt designed for a disc/ disc set up (big bore).... so i bet i can use my master/prop valve with that booster.?

Re: man this is ugly
Why not look into a 99+ booster/master combo from a 4wheel disc truck, shouldn't be too much harder to mount than the 88-98 booster
